Every Tuesday of 2019 I release a new 10-20 minute episode of my podcast, British Subjects. Over the 52 weeks of this year I want to tell the stories of immigrants (past and present) who have moved to the UK from each of the 52 Commonwealth countries. In doing so exploring the concept of Britishness and the "motherland".
Past episodes range from an interview with someone who's just moved here from Sierra Leone to study, to the story of a slave brought from St Kitts & Nevis to live in a small village in Warwickshire. There's stories of soldiers, spies, sportspeople, mothers, lovers, artists, activists and everything else you could possibly want.
